Barshim has been a high jump superstar since he burst onto the scene in 2009 and is the favorite to break the world record. This isn’t the first time he’s threatened to make 2.46 meters. He clipped the bar with his heels in 2014 as well.

Here’s the YouTube video of the attempt in Hungary.

Here is his near world record attempt in 2014.

Barshim has experimented with different approach lengths in the past but is always best and above 2.40 meters when he has a longer / faster / full stride straightaway.

Oh, and one more thing. Barshim already has a high enough COM to clear 2.46 meters. If he leans more through takeoff, he may have enough COM to go higher than 2.46 meters!
