Mutaz Essa Barshim Nearly Get’s The World Record

Mutaz Essa Barshim Comes Close To Breaking The High Jump World Record.


The men’s outdoor high jump world record nearly falls. Mutaz Essa Barshim barely clipped his first attempt at 2.46 meters on July 2 in Hungary.

Barshim has been a high jump superstar since he burst onto the scene in 2009 and is the favorite to break the world record. This isn’t the first time he’s threatened to make 2.46 meters. He clipped the bar with his heels in 2014 as well.

Barshim has experimented with different approach lengths in the past but is always best and above 2.40 meters when he has a longer / faster / full stride straightaway.

Oh, and one more thing. Barshim already has a high enough COM to clear 2.46 meters. If he leans more through takeoff, he may have enough COM to go higher than 2.46 meters!
